This is best applied to short hairstyles where the hair might be a bit too short for foils. The colour is painted on from root to tip with a tint brush to the specific areas. A paintbox can be painted as fine or as thick as you require and can be applied in specific areas or throughout the whole head.
Generally a paintbox colour will last for a few haircuts, as it grows out you can either get the colour re-applied or allow the colour to completely grow out.

Using foil is a practical way for the stylist to apply colour to the hair and the possibilities are endless with them. When using foils you can have more than one colour applied to create texture, depth, thickness and interest to the hairstyle. Foils can also be used to create blocks of colour or to separate colour. The amounts of hair placed in each foil can also determine how dramatic the result will be. The stylist can weave your hair or colour slices of hair.
Sample foils is generally when up to 10 foils are placed through the parting. Partial Foils is generally half a head of foils and a Full head is a full head of foils!
Prices can vary quite dramatically when choosing colours and we strongly recommend coming in for a free consultation with any of our stylists. When calling the salon, the stylist can't actually see the hair they have to work with and this can cause some confusion in giving you a quotation.
The length, choice of colours, and any previous chemical treatment can determine the cost of the colour service all of which will be confirmed to you before the start of the service.

A semi permanent colour is applied to the full head of hair, it can add tone or depth to the hair creating instant shine and gloss, this treatment cannot lighten hair. Coverage of 50% can be achieved over grey hair. Semi-permanent colouring has less visible regrowth than a permanent colour and causes less damage to the hair

At Hooka we have 2 different straightening products available.
The L'Oreal XTenso is a very effective product which reduces volume, helps control and smooth the hair. This product won't leave you with poker straight hair but will relax your hair and helps reduce the time spent on styling by up to 80%.
The results can last up to 4 months depending on how wavy/curly the hair is at the root area.
The service can take up to an hour and will also slightly lighten the colour of the hair.
L'Oreal Xtenso CeraThermic is the more permanent service. The treatment can take between 2-3 hours. The cost of the service is charged by the hour as it can take longer depending on the length and thickness of the hair. The application involves using a straightening cream and also straightening the hair out with the use of ceramic strengtheners in between neutralising for maximum effect.
The services above are not suitable for heavily chemically treated or damaged hair.
Hooka Deluxe Shave (Cut throat), £34.00 (45 mins)
The ultimate Hooka shave using the traditional method of cut throat shaving. Dermalogica Shave products are used to ensure the closest shave is achieved. Hot towels are applied to the neck and face area to open the pores and soften the facial hair resulting in a closer more precise shave and leaving you with smooth, hydrated skin.

An Indian Head Massage is a relaxing treatment which, as the name suggests, concentrates on massaging the head and scalp, The treatment involves massage and acupressure techniques on upper back, shoulders, arms/hands, neck, scalp and face. This relaxes tense areas but, at the same time, helps to rebalance the energy, clearing any areas of negativity.
It is advised not to do any strenuous exercise after a treatment and to take things easy for the following 12 hours.

At Hooka we offer an extensive range of waxing services, it is a fairly quick process of removing hair from any area of the body and will leave you feeling smooth for at least two weeks.
The hair will grow back finer the more often you have the area waxed. A cooling aloe vera gel is applied after the service to soothe the skin.

The St Tropez tan is applied by a therapist in a booth with a spray gun to give an even colour result. The tan will not streak or leave you with orange looking skin tone.
Prior to treatment
To get the best from your tan exfoliate and moisturise your skin prior to having the treatment. This will give a smoother surface for the therapist to apply the tan. Pay particular attention to the lower half of your legs, knees, ankles, top of feet, toes, elbows and knuckles. Please shower just before visiting the salon and ensure there are no lotions or deodorants left on your skin. If you are shaving, please ensure you do this at least 8 hours before salon application. A much better result will be achieved and the tan will last longer.
What to wear
Wear loose baggy clothing, so the tan does not rub off by abrasive clothing. The tan solution washes out of most clothing very easily, but may stain light nylon materials.
Aftercare
For best results leave the tan on the skin overnight - if possible try to leave 8 hours before having your post tan shower. To maximise how long your tan will last gently exfoliate, using the St.Tropez Body Polisher (available at the salon) every 2-3 days as the tan starts to fade and use the St.Tropez Body Moisturiser, as it will help to prolong the life of the tan.
This is a full body exfoliation using a Dermalgoica scrub. This service is ideal for before tanning or before a holiday.
A back treatment for clients needing to de-stress, purify and to combat breakouts, your back will be cleansed, polished and hydrated.

There are so many different styles that can be created by having your hair permed. A quotation will be given following a consultation as the cost can vary depending on the length of hair, method used and also the choice of perm lotion used.

Here at Hooka our staff are fully qualified and experienced in the application of Racoon Hair Extensions. Below are some common questions that are frequently asked about hair extensions:
Is the hair real?
Yes, the hair we use is real, there are 2 types - euro hair which can be coloured and reused time and time again and standard hair which can't be coloured or reused. There's a difference in price and quality depending on the customers individual needs.
Can anyone have extensions?
No, not everyone. There can be medical reasons e.g. alopecia, chemotherapy or if you are taking medications or have to wear protective head gear. We always do a thorough consultation to decide whether the client is suitable.
How much will it cost?
The price depends on quite a few factors. The amount of hair required, the type and length of the hair and colour required. The cost will be confirmed once the consultation is completed.
How long does it take?
Every client has a different reason for having hair extensions, either to gain extra length or to add more volume. The application can take from an hour and a half up to four hours. We will also need time to cut and style the hair afterwards.
Does it hurt to have them in?
As you won't be used to having hair extensions in the first few mornings you may wake up feeling slight discomfort after lying on them.
Do they damage your hair?
No, when applied professionally they won't damage your hair. We insist that clients look after and maintain their hair by using specifically prescribed Racoon products which will be included in the price of the service. We also advise you on all home care procedures from shampooing, blow drying to styling and maintenance and also when to revisit the salon to get them retouched.
How are they taken out?
Removing your extensions should ALWAYS be carried out by your stylist as this can prevent damaging your hair or extensions.
Can you colour them?
Yes, it is possible to colour the Racooon Euro hair but we strongly advise that you always get it coloured professionally. Certain colour products can damage the hair extensions.
Can i use hair straighteners, tongs or heated rollers?
Yes all of the above can be used on the extensions but as they are bonded onto the hair using heat always make sure that any heated hair tool does not touch the glue as it can melt the bond causing the hair to fall out.

To maximise how long your tan will last gently exfoliate, using the St.Tropez Body Polisher (available at the salon) every 2-3 days as the tan starts to fade and use the St.Tropez Body Moisturiser, as it will help to prolong the life of the tan.

I'm Dion the owner and style director at Hooka. I qualified as a hairdresser in 1996 after studying hairdressing in Llandrillo College North Wales, after qualifying I worked in a few salons in the area before moving to Liverpool in 2001.
It was when I moved to Liverpool I decided to become a creative stylist for men. In August 2006 I opened the doors to my salon. I wanted to create a unique salon, from the brand to the layout and whole experience, I initially opened Hooka as a men only salon.
Hooka has evolved and changed a lot in the time it has been open and is already gaining a great reputation by being featured in the media and winning both hair and business awards.
The biggest change, due to demand, was that we invited women in to experience the hair and body services at the salon, that was back in early 2008. Hooka now attracts over 200 new clients every month, a massive amount considering the financial situation over the last few years.
I am really proud of what I have achieved in the time I have been here, winning The Nations Favourite Hairdresser 2009 has got to be a highlight!
Opening Hooka has given me the opportunity to be creative and I have become more ambitious due to the responsibilities that come along with owning your own business. Entering competitions, winning awards and achieving my own personal goals through the business is what keeps me motivated. I am so excited to see what Hooka will achieve in the future. My ambition is to work within the TV and fashion industry. A treatment I would recommend is one of the facials we offer, our face is always exposed to sun damage and even dirt from the air. Facials are a really good way to get to the deeper layers of the skin and get rid of any problems like breakouts.

Dion was runner up for this award which was open to any business in Liverpool, Merseyside and North Wales. Hooka had only been open for just over a year so this was a massive achievement to beat so many other businesses, he walked away with a £5,000 cheque.
Winning an award that was voted for by the public was fantastic, especially taking into account that Hooka had only been open for such a short amount of time. Hooka was up against bigger, more established businesses in Liverpool. This was a good sign that word was getting out about the salon.
Dion earned the title of "The Nations Favourite Hairdresser 2009" which was sponsored by Head & Shoulders. The voting for the award was all done by Dion's loyal client base, all having to write a piece on why he deserved to win the title. For the finals, Dion and his client Andy Dews went to London for the final where Dion had to cut and style Andy's hair in front of a panel of judges and a camera crew. It was that night he found out he had won the title as well as £2000 and an opportunity to appear in Now, Look and Hair magazines.
